What are they?
Who does it help?
How can I help?
They're just like the regular advent calendars, the ones that give you a little treat each day of advent, leading up to Christmas. However, instead of getting something, you put an item into a box or bag FOR someone else. At the end of advent, you have e a whole filled box to deliver to the pantry for families in our community who are facing food insecurity.
It helps families who use Extended Hands Pantry to get healthy, culturally familiar food. These families may have immigrant or refugee backgrounds, may be elders who aren't sure if their budgets will cover both groceries and medications, or families who've fallen on unexpected hard times because of a car issue or other unexpected event. No one who needs to fill the gap left behind after rent, utilities, and basic needs is turned away from the pantry.
You can do it on your own. You can do it as a family. You can get your classroom, youth groups, scouts, or any other collective you're a part of to take on the reverse advent box. Print our easy to use kit here. It has instructions on what to collect and when to drop off your awesome hauls.
If you can't participate this year but still want to give, please use the donate button at the top of the page. Anything you can give helps!
